Eyelash Extensions: What to Expect Before and After

Have you ever considered trying eyelash extensions?

If you feel like you spend too much time in your day applying makeup, maybe it’s time to take the plunge and see what eyelash extensions all are about. That’s because eyelash extensions can make it look like you’ve used mascara (or even better) but without actually having to do it.

The great benefit is that with eyelash extensions, you eliminate the need for mascara, thereby saving you time. Also, no more having to worry about smudging, clumping or your lashes losing curl throughout the day. Think about it, you can walk through the rain or go swimming without having to worry about your mascara running!

If your eyelash extensions are applied by a licensed and trained professional, they are a totally safe way to improve the look of your natural lashes. Extensions are a natural-like-synthetic lash individually placed directly onto your natural lash using specially designed adhesive. Eyelash extensions should not be confused with strip eyelashes. Those adhere to the lid on a single strip. Eyelash extensions are applied directly to your natural lashes, individually. Because of that, you should anticipate that your session can take some time, the initial appointment is typically two to 2.5 hours and fills vary from 45-75 minutes.

The false lash being adhered to one single natural lash lets your lashes continue to shed with their normal cycle. The average person sheds three-to-five lashes every day, that’s why the extensions require upkeep to keep them looking natural and fresh. Typically, every two-to-three weeks a client has shed enough lashes that they need to come back in for a “fill” to get extensions put on the new growth.

So, if you are getting ready to try eyelash extensions for the first time, here’s how you prepare.

Avoid any kind of stimulating drink or caffeine prior to your appointment. Clean your face and lashes in advance with an oil-free cleanser. Don’t put on any makeup or oily products before your appointment. Shower the night before or in the morning on the day of your appointment because you can’t get your lashes wet for 12-24 hours. If you use contact lenses, don’t wear them during the first appointment. Finally, wear comfortable clothes.

The last thing is to prepare for an experience that will make you feel beautiful and save you a lot of time.
